Name: Christine
Gender: Female

Interests: When somebody asks me to describe myself, the words ghost writer, session musician or singer come to my mind as these descriptions could well be applied to me, but as a photojournalist, as for many years, I did voluntary work for various organisations and my work has been published widely (both words and images) in magazines and newspapers, but rarely assigned to my name, and anyone reading my profile could well have come across my work in the media and would have been unaware that it was mine. My background is photojournalism and this is where I came from, where I cut my teeth so to speak. My style has evolved through the years and I strive to capture the reality while preserving the integrity of the shots.
Occupation: Photographer

My visual diary from this year's 2009 Ekka

I had a great time at this year's Brisbane Ekka, just want to share some of the
snapshots I captured.

The Chair Lift will be dismantled after this year's Ekka in Brisbane!

chairliftEkka I've always loved going to Brisbane's "Ekka" each year, and this year especially will be a very significant year historically because after this year's "Ekka" the popular chair lift will be dismantled, and the whole of the exhibition grounds where the Royal National Show has been held in Brisbane for so many years will be given a facelift and the pavillions will no longer be the way they were as they have been lovingly known by Brisbanites.  This year, I entered several of my prints in the Photographic Section of the show, and I'm so proud that many of my prints were accepted and will be displayed in the Fine Arts Pavillion at this year's 2009 show.  The R.N.A. Photographic competition is very prestigious and is hotly contested with entries pouring in from photographers. I took this photo of the chair lift a few years back,  and I'm going to make sure that I document the show just as it is as I see it in 2009 this year for sure.  I'll be posting more photos from this year's "Ekka" later.

Tabletop Mountain

Now Toowoomba has some spectacular scenery on offer and Tabletop Mountain is spectacular at any time of the year, so I decided to check it out a few days ago, and got these spectacular shots of it in all it's winter colours.  I love all the shades of the vegetation, mist and clouds.

The locals are very friendly, too! My main purpose for coming was to check out the area for an upcoming wedding, but this little kookaburra caught my eye, he had been watching and had realised that I wasn't going to hurt him, so I took some photos of him and his little mate hunting - I got so close, and it was such a beautiful moment where a wild animal allows you into their world, that I couldn't let the opportunity go by. I've been able to get up this close to koalas in the wild and luckily had a camera with me and photographed them, too.  Kookaburras are usually wary, especially when eating their food while still on the ground, they usually fly up to the safety of a high branch in a nearby tree.

They even bring their own food!

Now that's a big grub!

and it sure tasted good!

Dancing Leaves

I love to see the autumn leaves dancing in the chilly gusty winter winds and this caught my eye the other day.
